Plowing & Hazardous Road Conditions

Current weather conditions are making road conditions hazardous.  Our Street Division has been plowing and sanding the roads inside Ashland continually since this weather event began on Friday and will continue until less hazardous conditions return.  We currently have up to five plow trucks operating to clear 140 lane miles of roads.  With snow continuing to fall, we continue to focus on keeping the highest priority streets accessible and we work our way onto the lesser traveled roads from there.  Our highest priority roads are the routes leading to the hospital, from there we prioritize the busiest arterial streets, followed by neighborhood collectors, then on to neighborhood roads. Weather conditions and are constantly changing, so an exact time of when we might get to a specific address can be difficult to determine.  A map showing our plowing priorities can be found at this link (click here).  Plowing and sanding improves the road conditions, however the roads will still be slick and should be driven on accordingly.  If you don’t have to drive, it’s always safer to stay home.  We appreciate your patience as plowing and sanding takes time.  Our crews are working around the clock to keep up with ever changing road conditions.

Thank you
