Ashland Senior Services Division is delighted to present an old-fashioned radio-style play performed by talented local seniors live via Zoom. The show will be fully acted out, with video as well as audio, live on Zoom. There is also a phone-only option to welcome those without an internet connection.

Ashland Radio Hour is a very entertaining original play set in our own beloved Ashland. Written by Jack Seybold and directed by Cheryl Goodman-Morris, the 16-person ensemble will regale you with Ashland-centered tales, skits and commercials, culminating in an original Private Investigator type comedic drama, "Charlie Dancer, Man of Danger."

The play features the OLLI Players, with sound by Marty Eldridge. The full cast includes: Jackie Bachman, Allyson Barnes, Janie Burcart, Kathy Campbell, Teri Coppedge, John Ferris, Doug Godwin, Cheryl Goodman-Morris, Mark Goodman-Morris, Andrew Kramer, Laura Kramer, John Pratt, Barbara Richard, Jack Seybold, Mary Beth Watt, and Carol Weekley.

Superintendent Isleen Glatt notes, “Since the beginning of the pandemic, Ashland Senior Services Division has continued helping seniors and their families remotely. One of our objectives was to create safe ways for seniors to remain connected and engaged while isolating at home. An old-fashioned radio play seemed like an ideal event that could work for seniors through a phone connection alone as well as for those with internet access. We are grateful to the OLLI Players for creating and performing this hilarious play for our community!”

Director Cheryl Goodman-Morris adds, “This has been such a joyful project!  Directing a live play via Zoom has presented its own world of challenges, but our plucky, intrepid actors have exuberantly risen to the occasion. Jack Seybold's script is magic, and has inspired an array of warm, funny, quirky characters that are sure to delight. Airing on February 10th, the Ashland Radio Hour is the Senior Center's special Valentine to the community.”

Ashland Radio Hour will air live on Wednesday, February 10, 1 p.m. Q&A with the cast with follow. The event is free, but registration is required. Register at ashland.or.us/register or by calling 541.488.5342.
