DEQ Has Issued an Air Quality Alert for Jackson County

.AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT...

Oregon Department of Environmental Quality has issued an Air Pollution Advisory...in effect until at least Wednesday night.

Wildfires burning in the region combined with forecast conditions will cause air quality levels to fluctuate. At times, air quality may deteriorate to unhealthy levels.

See smokewiseashland.org for the AQI reading and health resources. You can also download DEQ’s free OregonAIR app on your smart phone.

Smoke can irritate people`s eyes and lungs and worsen some medical conditions. Young children, adults over 65, pregnant women, and people with heart disease, asthma, or other respiratory conditions are most at risk.

Protect yourself when smoke levels approach AQI of 100 and above:

* Stay inside if possible. Keep windows and doors closed.

* Avoid strenuous outdoor activities.

* Be aware of smoke in your area and avoid places with the highest levels.

* Use high efficiency particulate (HEPA) air filters.

* If you have heart disease, lung disease, or asthma, follow your health care provider`s advice.
