Downtown Parking Management Resumes

With the opening of phase two, we are glad to see more activity in the downtown area. To ensure that everyone can find a place to park when they come downtown, the City will be resuming enforcement of timed parking downtown beginning in July. The primary goal of time limit enforcement is to ensure that the parking spaces are maximized to support our local economy downtown.

“While it isn’t common to think of parking enforcement as being part of welcoming back our residents and visitors to downtown, the City is committed to supporting our local businesses and maintaining available parking for customers safely reacquainting themselves with our great local restaurants and retail businesses,” stated Interim City Administrator Adam Hanks.

In partnership with the Chamber of Commerce and our downtown building and business owners, an Ashland Summer Celebration of themes and activities will be taking place in July, August and September. Some sections of parking will be converted to business or pedestrian use to provide outdoor space for businesses and to also provide additional pedestrian walking spaces for improved physical distancing.

With the desired and expected increase in activity in the downtown area already starting to be evident even before this Summer Series, the City’s parking structure on Hargadine Street (between Pioneer and First Streets) is available. Hourly and monthly parking permits for the structure will be available at discounted rates. For more details, go to ashland.or.us/parking
