Old culverts at a creek undercrossing will be replaced during this closure period which begins Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at 7AM. Due to the size of the project the roadway will be closed to thru-traffic completely day and night throughout the duration of the project. Emergency Services has been notified and a signed detour will be in place to guide motorists who are unfamiliar with the area. Re-opening of the roadway to traffic is expected Friday afternoon, March 23, 2018.
For this particular project a full-closure is needed due to the size of the project with trenches across the roadway exceeding typical distances which can be spanned with steel plates. Additionally, closing the roadway in full allows work to be completed more quickly by working on the entire roadway width at once. This avoids doing half the roadway width at a time while safely accommodating passing traffic every few minutes as well as securing the site for traffic through the night.
Local motorists traveling in this area of Ashland are encouraged to avoid the work area by using alternate routes including roadways such as Walker Avenue, Tolman Creek Road, Clay Street and Highway 66.
