The City is asking citizens to complete a brief questionnaire to help review updated goals and policies proposed for inclusion in the Housing Element of Ashland's Comprehensive Plan. The Housing Goals and Policies Questionnaire seeks community input on the draft Housing Goals and Policies in the Comprehensive Plan.
Earlier this year the City solicited feedback from the community regarding changing the existing policies that date back to 1989. With consideration of input shared by community members through a previous online questionnaire, comments provided at public meetings, and at a community housing forum event, the Planning Commission and the Housing and Human Services Commission have refined the revised goals and policies.
The City is requesting the community help review these newly revised draft housing goals and policies. The questionnaire concludes with an open ended question for any suggested additions, deletions, revisions or other comments that you feel should be considered as part of the Housing Element update process.
While Ashland is not a provider or major developer of housing, its policy and land development ordinances will have an impact on land availability, development sites, and housing types which will be used to meet the City’s housing needs. The Housing Element of the Comprehensive Plan (Chapter VI) recognizes the idea that over time the City will continue to grow and change, and that the Plan will serve as a guide to make sure that the growth and changes are in the best interests of current and future Ashland residents. Your input in updating this guiding document is much appreciated.
