PERMIT -Open Flame Permit


Use this permit application to apply for an Open Flame Permit. Open Flames are prohibited in the city of Ashland unless a permit has been obtained from Ashland Fire & Rescue. Permits are required for the use of open flames at public events and buildings open to the public. Examples of circumstances that require a permit include candles used for candlelight vigils or services, fires and open flames related to indoor or outdoor ceremonies, and burning of sage. Requests should be made at least five (5) working days prior to the event. Larger events may require longer processing times.
At the end of this application will be a place to upload an event site plan. Please have this ready before applying for the permit. Please include the following information on your site plan:
  • Event Name & Date
  • Interior diagram of the space being used
  • Property lines and dimensions in feet (if outdoors or in a temporary structure)
  • Adjacent Buildings and distance in feet (if outdoors or in a temporary structure)
  • Tent and/or booth locations and dimensions in feet
  • Generators
  • Barricades
  • Exits
  • Fire Extinguishers

Site Plan Upload: The site plan needs to show a general overview of the area and proximity of your event to adjacent buildings, public ways and vegetation. Please include the following information on your site plan: Event Name & Date, Property lines and dimensions in feet, Adjacent Buildings and distance in feet, tent and/or booth locations and dimensions, generators, cooking appliances, heating appliances, barricades, exits, and fire extinguishers.

After selecting submit, you will receive an email confirming that your application has been received. Please note that until a permit is signed by you and an Ashland Fire & Rescue representative, the permit has not been issued.
