Commissions & Committees

***Please Note***
The City Administrator has suspended all non-essential regular City Committee/Commission meetings beginning March 12, 2020, as a precautionary and preventive measure for COVID-19. Non-essential meetings are defined as anything not having a state or federal timeline for funding. As a result, most Commissions will not be meeting until further notice. The goal is to keep City employees healthy so that they can continue providing essential functions to our citizens.
Staff is currently working on the technical details of facilitating electronic meetings for the City Council and Planning Commission and that is the priority.   Once that is worked out staff will turn efforts to helping facilitate regular Commission and Committee meetings as needed.

The focus of this Cost Review Ad-Hoc Committee is to investigate programs and operational expenditures including compensation and benefits with the goal of improving long-term financial sustainability.

Council Goals Supported:
Goal 1:   Develop current and long-term budgetary resilience
      - Continue to improve the budget process: transparency, rigor, innovation, community involvement, and collaboration
Goal 2: Analyze City departments/programs to gain efficiencies, reduce costs and improve services
   - Implement a cost recovery plan and analysis for each department that coincides with the annual review of fees and charges and revenues
Goal 3: Enhance and improve transparency & communication
   - Develop a robust program to engage with Ashland citizens about City priorities and our progress on those priorities, public input opportunities and processes, how individual citizens can help meet City goals, budgeting and decision-making processes, etc.
At the October 16th Cost Review Ad-Hoc Committee Meeting, Ashland Fire and Rescue(AFR) and Mercy Flights each gave a presentation to the Committee.  Below are the links to the packets of questions and answers for AFR and Mercy Flights as well as the video:
