City of Ashland
PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION
SPECIAL MEETING
MINUTES
April 10, 2002
ATTENDANCE
Present: Commissioners Eggers, Jones, Landt, Lewis, MacGraw; Director Ken Mickelsen
Absent: None
CALL TO ORDER
Chair Landt called the meeting to order at 6:45 p.m. at the Hunter Park Senior Center, 1699 Homes.
RECOMMENDATION OF PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT'S PROPOSED BUDGETS FOR FY 2002-2003 TO CITY BUDGET COMMITTEE
Chair Landt explained that this special meeting had been called to approve the budget for the next fiscal year. However, he said, a majority of Commissioners were not prepared to approve the budget at this time. Commissioner Landt proposed postponing the approval vote "until April 18th or a time before, if we can set it."
Director Mickelsen pointed out that the information presented was the same as that presented at the March 25, 2002 Study Session -- nothing had changed.
Commissioner Eggers said that she had difficulty reading the numbers shown at the Study Session and would "appreciate an opportunity to go over (the information)."
Director Mickelsen noted that the proposed budget is scheduled to come before the Budget Committee on April 18th. If Commissioners were thinking of changing the proposed budget, they must make the changes early enough to allow time for Staff to revise budget documents that must be presented at the April 18th 7p.m. Budget Committee Meeting.
After it was determined that a quorum would be able to attend, a special meeting was set for 12 noon, Thursday, April 18th at the Parks Department Office, 340 S. Pioneer.
ADJOURNMENT – By consensus, with no further business, Chair Landt adjourned the meeting.
Respectfully submitted, Robyn Hafner, Department Secretary
Ashland Parks and Recreation Department
