6. Update of Follow-up sub committee

At Co-chair Simon’s request, Seltzer provided an update on the calendar.  On December 1, employees were sent instructions on adding the religious holidays available through Microsoft Outlook to their desktop calendars. IT continues to work on adding the religious holidays to the master calendar.

Simon stated her position on the need for a DEI manager.  Muse invited commission input on Simon’s draft request to council for a DEI manager.  Generally, the commission supports the ask and the need.  DuQueene expressed support of the request.

7. Update on conciliatory services.

Gillis reported on the various meetings with the identified conciliatory service providers and then asked about the process to get council approval.  Seltzer noted that the full commission must first hear from the providers and then vote to recommend the provider(s) to the council.

8. Discussion on SERJ commission report to the City Council in January

Due to previously scheduled plans, Simon will be unavailable to work on the report prior to the SERJ January meeting. Seltzer noted that if need be, SERJ could schedule a special meeting (in addition to the regular meeting), to review and approve the report.

Motion:  Simon/Muse moved to request the report to the City Council be delayed to the council’s second meeting in February and discussion of the report by the commission be delayed until the February SERJ meeting on February 3.  Motion passes.
