Update Fire Station No. 2
Seltzer, Fire Chief, project manager and contractors for Fire Station No. 2 had a conference call with artist CJ Rench to discuss the pedestal for Open Minded. The pedestal will be 18 inches tall and approximately 4 to 5 feet in circumference. Rench will provide engineering drawings to the contractors within the next four weeks. The cost is estimated at approximately $3,000 to be paid through the public art fund.
Plaza
Artist Sue Springer presented her concept for public art on the Plaza. The art will be a combination of tile and mosaic in muted blues, greens, and yellows set in a wavy pattern on the face of the seat walls. The concept was approved by the commission M/C Davis/Bussell.
Springer will meet with Covey Pardee Landscape architects on Wednesday September 26.
The PAC agreed that a direct commission to an artist (Sue Springer) was the only way to meeting the city’s timeline for the Plaza project and incorporate the public art installation into the construction documents.
