Chair Bussell called meeting to order at 8:15 a.m.
Minutes from the May 21 meeting were approved with changes.
Utility Box Update
One new submission was received as a result of extending the RFP deadline. To date, submissions include 2 for the Plaza box, 3 for the low box on
The Commission discussed the overall project and why more artists are not submitting designs. Discussion included commissioning artists to paint boxes, the stipend, the quality of submissions. The Commission wondered what to do about the current project and what to do in the long run. It was agreed to proceed with the current submissions and to form the selection panel.
It is unlikely the Parks Commission will agree to place the Hardesty memorial sculpture in the
Bussell suggested two other locations for possible murals: the post office and the Fordyce building (Earthly Goods).
