Regular Meeting

Attendance:

Commissioners:  Davis, Edson, Bussell, Wynkoop, Pugh, Seltzer (staff liaison)

 

Absent:  Wilkerson, Lemhouse (council liaison)

 

Guest:

Nancy Parker

 

Chair Bussell called meeting to order at 8:15 a.m. and welcomed and introduced Carol Davis to the Public Art Commission.

 

Approval of Minutes

M/S Edon/Wynkoop approval of minutes for January and February

 

Goal Review

  • Murals

The Committee reviewed the list of goals from the February meeting.  Bussell presented slides of possible locations for a mural. 

 

The Committee discussed possible locations with a focus on publically owned buildings/spaces rather than private.  Possible locations include the bike path and Garfield Park and the large retaining wall in Will Dodge Way.

 

  • Master Plan Gateway

The Committee discussed the process required to conduct master planning for the gateway.

 

  • Walking Tour Brochure

Bussell passed out the walking tour brochure of public art for SOU.  The committee discussed the merits of a similar brochure either in print or as an online tour guide.

 

  • Givens

Brief discussion on the timeline for the list of givens: Calle sculptures, Hardesty memorial, Friends of Public Art and meeting with Parks Commission.

 

  • Utility Box Phase 2

Edson provided an outline of next steps.  The committee discussed funding, box locations and timing.

 

Meeting adjourned at 9:30 a.m.
