Regular Meeting

Chair Markell called the meeting to order at 8:20 a.m.  New commissioners Rickbone and Bussell were welcomed.

Project Updates

Calle

The two outdoor sculptures for the Calle staircase cannot be installed until they are covered by insurance.  The city does not cover public art and has asked for a separate quote from the insurance provider to cover the two sculptures.  No action can be taken until the pieces are covered by insurance.

 

McGee

Longshore is coordinating the unveiling for Nourishing Our Community and a reception at Standing Stone Brewery on Monday June 12 at 6:00 p.m.  the piece has been installed and the plaque ordered.  It is anticipated that the plaque will be installed in the next few weeks.  Artist, Lonnie Feather will attend the unveiling.  Former commissioner Bayard is designing and printing invitation postcards for the event.  Longshore and markell will assist.

 

Procedures

Gay, who has taken the lead role on this project was not at the meeting.  Seltzer explained the project, how it originated, the on-going work etc.

 

Master Planning

No report.

 

Annual Goals

Seltzer provided copies of the previous annual goals.  There was some discussion that the PAC may want to schedule a longer meeting in order to update the goals.

 

JCCC

Rickbone and Bussell will work together to apply for funds from the Jackson county Cultural Trust.

 

Parks Foundation

Seltzer and Markell will work together to apply for funds from the Parks Foundation.  It was suggested that PAC ask for $5000 to cover insurance and installation costs associated with the Calle.

 

Plaza Fountain

Seltzer provided copies of the RFP for services to repair the Lithia Water fountain on the Plaza.  Qualifying submissions will be presented to the PAC and the Historic Commissions for input.  Pugh asked to be the lead on this project.

 

Action Items

·        Rickbone and Bussell to work on JCCC grant.  Provide draft at June meeting.  Seltzer to provide copy of last years grant application.

·        Markell and Seltzer to work on Parks Foundation grant.

·        Longshore and Markell to work with Baryad on postcards, mailings and unveiling.

 

Meeting adjourned at 9:30 a.m.
