Benson called the meeting to order and invited Longshore and Markell to give an update on the McGee Memorial selection process.

The selection panel consisting of Joe Strahl, Interim Public Works Director, Jay Leighton, Historic Commissioner, Judy Howard Artist and owner Hanson Howard Gallery, Lyn Godsy Director Southern Oregon Arts Council, Debra Ogden and Bren Duvall.

The committee reviewed 14 submissions and agreed on the concept submitted by artist Lonnie Feather.

Longshore and Markell explained the selection panel process and distributed copies of the artist’s narrative.

M/S by Bayard and Wilkerson to accept the recommendation of the selection panel, give an informational presentation to the Historic Commission and present the recommendation to the city council for their final decision.

Gay requested a discussion at the upcoming meeting about the Public Art Commission ordinance and the policies and procedures.
