Consent Agenda
Minutes of the October 15 meeting were approved with corrections. Bayard motion, Longshore second.
Discussion of group e-mail
Wilkerson receives three duplicate e-mails whenever something is sent over the group list. Seltzer will double check with computer services.
Subcommittee reports
McGee/Neill memorial
Benson summarized the Mcgee proposal and there was much discussion on the pros and cons of locating the memorial on private land. In the end, the sub committee agreed to explore and identify other possible locations. The committee would like to schedule a study session with the city council at a future date to discuss the possibility of easements on private land for the placement of public art and to discuss possible changes to the sign code as it relates to public art.
Calle Overlook
The were five submissions to the RFP for public art for eh overlook on the Calle staircase. The Selection panel which included three Grantie Street residents, Caroline Miller, Karl and Carole Hesse and Diane Amarotico, Parks Commission, Kerry KenCairn, landscape archeitect of the project, Pauls Brown, Public Works director and marcus Scott, Lithia Artisan Guild representative met on Thursday November 18 from 3:00 - 5:00 to review the entries and to select a final. Bayard will now take the final design to the Parks Commission for approval and to the council. The cub-committee will meet with the artist to discuss the installation budget.
Policy and Procedures
Bayard reminded the group that he is a committee of one and would like another member to assist with the policy and procedures manual.
Funding
Bayard and Jackson will begin face-to-face solicitation of funds from the community. The sub-committee has discussed the process of requesting a line item in the budget for public art.
