Think Water Safety Resources and Programs

The Center for Disease Control reports that 10 people die each day from unintentional drowning. Ashland Parks and Recreation wants to encourage and support community awareness and Think Water Safety to prepare for safe enjoyable experiences in any water environment.

Think Water Safety
Think Water Safety is based on these important factors for keeping swimmers safe:
  • Constant Dedicated Surveillance - Young swimmers need responsible adult supervision in water at all times.
  • Always Ask Permission - Teach children to always ask permission before getting in water, even the bathtub!
  • Use Life Jackets Appropriately - Make sure life jackets are worn in boating and waterfront activities including the proper type and insure proper fitting.
  • Learn to Swim - Swim lessons are the most effective way for children to learn swimming skills and understand the importance of water safety.
Use our collection of resources to learn more ways to teach water safety skills. Also check out our free Think Water Safety Youth Education Program designed for organized youth groups and camps.
