APRC Staff Furloughed One Day Per Month

Beginning Monday, July 6, 2020 Ashland Parks and Recreation Commission (APRC) will institute Ashland Parks and Recreation Commission Logoone furlough day per month for twelve consecutive months, July 2020 through June 2021, to help address budget shortfalls due to COVID-19.

"We realized early in the pandemic that APRC would have to make sacrifices right now, within our current budget, in order to survive in the long term,” stated APRC Director, Michael A. Black, AICP. In addition to the furloughs, in April 2020, APRC laid off temporary employees and six (6) permanent staff.

All APRC offices and indoor facilities will be closed and parks/maintenance staff will be unavailable on furlough days. Facilities include: The Grove, the Ashland Senior Center, the North Mountain Park Nature Center and Oak Knoll Golf Course. “We understand this has an impact on our community. The furloughs are one step we can take to ensure that the overarching services that APRC provides to Ashland, and those in surrounding communities, can continue in the months and years to come,” stated Black.
