It’s that time of year again to lace up your skates and hit the ice! The Ashland Rotary Centennial Ice Rink will officially open on Saturday, November 20, 2021. The outdoor rink, an operation of Ashland Parks and Recreation Commission (APRC), is located at 95 Winburn Way, across from the Lithia Park playground, around the corner from the Plaza, and at the corner of Nutley Street and Winburn Way.
“We are excited to once again partner with the Ashland Chamber of Commerce to bring the community a special holiday season in Ashland,” commented Recreation Manager, Lonny Flora. “The Chamber’s Festival of Light celebration will launch on Thursday, November 18, when more than one million lights will light up downtown Ashland! The Chamber will not have the parade this year, but we can still shop and eat local, experience this time of the year together and of course go ice skating!” The Chamber will also offer a SoundWalk in downtown Ashland from November through January. The 2021-2022 Ice Skating Season will look a little different this season as the rink will be opened with public health and safety in mind. Bring your own hot chocolate as concessions will not be available and APRC staff will strictly adhere to the guidelines put forth by the Oregon Health Authority during the COVID-19 pandemic. This will include requiring masks in public, outdoor spaces.
“We want to make sure you are prepared to visit the rink and get the most enjoyment out of your experience. Please plan to visit
ashland.or.us/IceRink BEFORE every trip to the rink. It will be important to review information about changes in participation requirements, scheduling, skating lessons and programs. We can’t emphasize enough to check the schedule BEFORE coming out to the rink (for every visit), as schedules can change daily, especially around the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays,” said Flora.
The direct line to the rink, after November 20, is 541.552.2258. The rink will be open through February 21, 2022. If you have questions before November 20, please
email or call 541.488.5340.
APRC hopes you can experience one of the most magical places in Ashland… that little outdoor rink in beautiful Lithia Park, where the air is fresh, and the white lights are twinkling. May you find your holiday spirit in Ashland’s season of celebration!
