Controlled Burn Season Beginning
Rainy weather and cooler temperatures mean the start of controlled burn season. Throughout the cool and wet months, Ashland Forest Resiliency forest crews will be burning brush piles to improve wildfire safety surrounding our community and in the city’s watershed.
Each burn is planned to achieve our objectives and passes through a rigorous screening process to maximize fuels reduction while also minimizing smoke moving into the community. At times, smoke will briefly impact town in order to increase the level of wildfire safety around homes and businesses.
Our Smokewise Ashland site has all the resources you need to stay healthy when smoke is in the air. Also, learn where AFR Partners will conduct burns in 2021-2022 on the controlled burn map.
