City of Ashland Phase II Reopening: What to Expect

Now the Governor’s Office and Oregon Health Authority have approved the county’s entrance into Phase II of reopening during the COVID-19 pandemic, here’s what to expect from City of Ashland and Ashland Parks and Recreation offices and services:
  • For both community and staff safety, the City and Parks will take a cautious and careful approach to maximize our ability to staff city office and functions until such a time when we can enter Phase III (vaccine and/or reliable treatments available). Expanded electronic service options have been put in place in many of the City offices to reduce or eliminate the need for in-person services.
  • Select community services that require person to person interaction are being carefully integrated into Department operations.  These will initially be on an appointment basis only.  Please check the City website or call the specific department for current status.
  • Masks will be strongly encouraged in publicly accessed spaces in all City and Ashland Parks and Recreation buildings where public interactions with staff take place.
  • Once reopened, foot traffic will be limited in offices such as Utility Billing and Community Development where space is limited. Signs will direct customers to wait outside until space is available indoors.
  • Six feet physical distancing will be required in all City and Parks buildings.
  • Many City and Parks sponsored activities will continue to be postponed until it is safe to resume.
  • Essential services (Utilities, Police, and Fire) will continue uninterrupted as they have during the entire COVID timeframe.
  • Sanitizing stations have been placed in public areas of City buildings.  Please stop, read and utilize these stations before interacting with staff and if you feel sick with any symptoms, please stay home.
  • We urge our citizens to be respectful of the City’s requirements for reopening our facilities. Behaviors that place other community members or staff at risk will not be tolerated and patrons will be asked to leave.
The City of Ashland and Ashland Parks do not have enforcement authority over Phase II requirements on activities and behavior prescribed by the Oregon Health Authority and Jackson County Health and Human Services. Where the City grants permits for public events and gatherings on City and Parks property, enforcement of the terms of the permit will occur as would normally take place.

Reopening news and individual department and services updated will be posted on the City’s coronavirus website at ashland.or.us/coronavirus. Please see the Governor’s Office site on Phase II reopening at govstatus.egov.com/reopening-oregon
