News Release from Ashland Police Dept.
Posted: September 16th, 2019 4:30 PM
This afternoon at 3:01 p.m. APD received an anonymous 911 call that reported a person walking toward Ashland High School (2 blocks away) wearing a bullet proof vest. Several APD officers responded and made contact with AHS admin staff who put the school on lockdown per the APD request. Officers checked the area while faculty and students remained in their classrooms. While a secondary sweep was being conducted by officers, contact was made with the initial caller, who advised APD that a weapon was not seen and that the person may not, in fact, have been wearing body armor. With this information the lockdown was lifted and APD officers remained on scene while the students and faculty left the campus.
APD will respond swiftly to any threats, or perceived threats to any of our schools.
