Synopsis: The City of Ashland is a member of the National League of Cities. The annual meeting for the National League of Cities will be held from December 3 - 7 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Under the Bylaws of the National League of Cities, the City of Ashland will be entitled to cast one vote at the Annual Business Meeting, held on December 7. Voting by proxy is not permitted. During mid-November, the National League of Cities will mail a special edition summarizing proposed National Municipal Policy amendments and proposed resolutions which will be voted on at the annual meeting.
Recommendation: Cost for a council member to attend the meeting will be registration fees, the cost of airfare, hotel room and meals for the time spent in Salt Lake City.
Fiscal Impact: Staff recommends that one voting delegate be selected plus an alternate.
Background: The City of Ashland has been a member of the National League of Cities for the past four years.
