Statement:
The Bicycle and Pedestrian Commission would like to take this opportunity to provide its annual update to the Council and make the Councilors aware of our plans for this year's Ashland Car Free Day Festival on September 22nd, 2005.
0
Background:
The Bicycle and Pedestrian Commission is established under Municipal Code Chapter 2.22, which was last updated by Ordinance #2832 in 1998. The Commission consists of nine voting members, one of whom is a City Councilor, and four non-voting members including representatives from the Rogue Valley Transportation District (RVTD), Community Development, Public Works and Police. The primary purpose of the Commission is to advocate for the equal opportunity to use non-automotive forms of travel and to ensure the development of bicycle and pedestrian facilities into a well-designed, integrated transportation network for all Ashland citizens.
