Summary of Services Provided to Ashland from RVTV 2004

  • In calendar year 2004 the City of Ashland and its citizens produced the following local community television programming:
  • 81 live government meetings cablecast.
  • 195.33 hours of live government meetings.
  • 585.99 hours of government programming repeats
  • 17 live studio call-in programs
  • 2,495 government Video-on-Demand files opened on the Internet
  • 105 government Video-on-Demand files available on the Internet.11 titles of Ashland programming: City Council, Planning, Parks and Recreation, Budget Hearings, Charter Review, Town Hall, City Talk, Affordable Housing, School Board, School House, and other one-time programs.
  • 8 Ashland City Band Concerts produced in Lithia Park.
  • 132 active Community Access Producers from Ashland, or 42.71% of all Producers
  • 2,949 hours of Community Access programs broadcast, 64% from provided by Ashland citizens.
  • 480 new programs submitted by Ashland Producers under 51 different titles.

The City of Ashland is one of a number of government agencies in the Rogue Valley that contribute to RVTV for the purpose of providing public access television. Southern Oregon University, in conjunction with the communications department, plays a key role in the success of RVTV. SOU funds provide the academic programs offered to SOU students in the field of film studies and video production. Students operate the cameras, act as directors and work in the control booth for government and citizen produced programs.
