Dear Residents and Visitors of Ashland:

Welcome to Ashland Fire & Rescue’s website. We want this resource to provide Ashland’s citizens, businesses and visitors with information they will find helpful. Whether it is emergency medical services, fire suppression and prevention, emergency preparedness, managing our watershed, or simply installing a child safety seat, our goal is to provide you with excellent service and valuable information.
We’re quite pleased with the success of our recent citizen emergency preparedness workshops. Our program to increase citizen disaster awareness and emergency preparedness is called AIR for Ashland Is Ready.  We will be conducting additional workshops and other events in the future. I encourage you to get involved in this important program. You will be better prepared if you do. Our CERT program is the model of Southern Oregon. Ashland CERT is partnering with Southern Oregon University, local businesses as well as involved citizens. The capabilities of our CERT program are expanding and their role in the community’s response to large events and emergencies is growing.
In concert with the state’s most successful Firewise Communities effort, Ashland Fire & Rescue is embarking on a new program to further reduce Ashland’s wildfire risk. This program is known as Fire Adapted Communities. A Fire Adapted Community takes responsibility for its wildfire risk. Actions address resident safety, homes, neighborhoods, businesses and infrastructure, forests, parks, open spaces, and other community assets. The more actions a community takes, the more fire adapted it becomes.
We want you to think of Ashland Fire & Rescue not only as your emergency first responders but also as a resource center for your public safety and emergency preparedness questions. We are available to provide a wide variety of information and preparedness tips that can help make a difference before, during, and after an emergency. Please spend some time on our web site. I believe you will find it useful and informative.

Thank you for your interest in Ashland Fire & Rescue and stay safe.

Sincerely,

John Karns
