| Synopsis: |
The second reading of the Ordinance levying taxes
for the period of July 1, 2002 to and including June 30, 2003 that was first
read June 4, 2002.
Such taxes in the sum of $7,762,000 upon all the real and personal
property subject to assessment and levy within the corporate limits of the
City of Ashland, Jackson County, Oregon. The levy consists of three parts:
(1) a permanent rate supporting the General and Parks Funds of $3.5642, totaling
$5,193,000 (2) a local option levy supporting Ashland Youth Activities Fund
at a rate of $1.3800, totaling $1,977,000, and (3) four bonded debt levies
totaling $592,000 with a combined rate of $0.4132. |
| Recommendation: |
Staff recommends approval of the attached Ordinance
by its second reading. |
| Fiscal Impact: |
Enables the City to levy a property tax rate and
receive revenue as authorized by the budget committee. |
| Background: |
The estimated total tax rate is expected to decrease
over last fiscal year due to a slight reduction in bonded debt levies. This
Ordinance is consistent with the Budget Committee's recommendation. |

AN ORDINANCE LEVYING TAXES FOR THE PERIOD OF JULY 1, 2002 TO AND INCLUDING
JUNE 30, 2003, SUCH TAXES IN THE SUM OF $7,762,000 UPON ALL THE REAL AND
PERSONAL PROPERTY SUBJECT TO ASSESSMENT AND LEVY WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS
OF THE CITY OF ASHLAND, JACKSON COUNTY, OREGON
THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF ASHLAND ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Ashland hereby levies the
taxes provided for in the adopted budget in the permanent rate of $3.5642
per thousand an amount estimated to be $5,193,000, voter authorized Local
Option in the rate of $1.3800 per thousand an amount estimated to be $1,977,000,
as well as $592,000 authorized for the repayment of General Obligation Debt
and that these taxes are hereby levied upon the assessed value for the fiscal
year starting July 1, 2002, on all taxable property within the City.
Section 2. That the City Council hereby declares that the taxes so levied
are applicable to the following funds:
