Statement: The resolution and proclamation set forth the results of the election held on November 2, 2004, and make the canvass a matter of record as required by the city charter.

Background: Article VII, Section 6, of the City Charter requires that the canvass of the votes for all city elections be made, and the results of the election "shall be entered in the record of the proceedings of the council." The resolution sets forth the vote for each position, and the proclamation sets forth the name of each person elected to office, all as required by this charter section.
