Transportation, Transit, and Parking Committee
In 1996, the City of Ashland adopted the Transportation Element of the Ashland Comprehensive Plan. This plan provides the goals and policies for directing the City in the accommodation of future growth, and the Transportation Element specifically provides guidance on addressing the future transportation needs of the City.
In the spring of 2000 an ad-hoc committee was formed to tackle transportation related problems in specific area around Ashland using the Transportation Element as the guiding resource document. The areas of interest inculded the Downtown Area, Ashland Community Hospital and Southern Oregon University and its surrounding residential area. Transportation topics included parking, traffic congestion, opportunities for increased use of alternate transportation, walkability and traffic safety.
The follow report is the final draft from the committee. As the Siskiyou Boulevard Redesign and the Downtown Update unfold, this draft will again be reviewed and will be an integral piece of future plans for transportation issues in Ashland.
