Of The Ashland Municipal Code To Provide Fees For
The Uniform Fire Code Plan Review And Inspections To Be Set By Resolution |
| Dept: |
Ashland Fire & Rescue |
| Date: |
April 6, 2004 |
| Submitted By: |
Keith E. Woodley, Fire Chief |
| Approved By: |
Gino Grimaldi, City Administrator
Paul Nolte, City Attorney |
| Synopsis: |
This ordinance allows the establishment of fire protection
plans review and inspection fees by resolution. |
| Recommendation: |
Adopt the proposed ordinance for Ashland Fire & Rescue
fire protection plans review and inspection program for second reading. Provide
an opportunity for public comment pursuant to ORS 294.160 when the resolution
setting the fees is adopted by Council. |
| Fiscal Impact: |
Fire protection plans review and inspection fees, when adopted,
will generate revenue to recover 50% of the cost of the new position. |
| Background: |
The City of Ashland has provided fire code compliance inspection programs
as the Authority Having Jurisdiction since the inception of the building
inspection program. During that period the fire code compliance program has
been administered by the Fire Marshal as one of many duties assigned to the
position. A Fire Protection Plans Examiner position has been added to the
code enforcement division within the Fire Department to assist with the work
load in this program area. The fire protection plans review and inspection
fee schedule is intended to help offset the cost of this position. With the
addition of this new position, the fire protection plans turnaround time
has been reduced from 20 days to 5 days. |
