COVID-19 Closures and Cancelations

Current Closure and Cancelation Notices:
 
Playgrounds are open with Phase Two approval (granted to Jackson County on June 5). Ashland Parks and Recreation has also begun the process of reopening playgrounds and resuming limited sports practices for non-contact sports, such as softball. (All practices must be granted approval by Ashland Parks and Recreation.)

As of May 15, the following parks amenities will reopen to the public with some guidelines for use:
  • Community Skate Park located on Water Street, next to the recycling center
  • The Dog Park located at 950 Perozzi Street, adjacent to W Nevada Street
  • BMX Park located at 910 Perozzi Street, near the Dog Park
  • Sports courts (for non-contact sports):
    • Tennis courts
      • Lithia Park on Winburn Way
      • Hunter Park on Hunter Court adjacent to Homes Avenue
    • Pickleball courts
      • Lithia Park on Winburn Way
      • Helmen Elementary School on Helman Street
    • Volleyball courts (restricted to one-on-one or doubles only)
      • Garfield Park on East Main and California Street
      • Lithia Park on Winburn Way
    • Bocce Ball in Sherwood Park, located on Sherwood Ave adjacent to Ashland Street
Following the Executive Order 20-25 from the Governor the following amenities will remain closed:
  • Basketball Sport Courts
  • Playgrounds
  • Picnic Shelters and Structures
  • APRC indoor facilities (The Grove, Nature Center, Senior Center)

Oak Knoll Golf Course reopened on May 1, 2020 with the following restrictions:
  • All golfers must maintain social distancing of six feet and this will be enforced.
  • Clubhouse is closed and all transactions will be done through the Clubhouse window. Only credit cards will be accepted. You are encouraged to call ahead to set up a tee-time and pay by phone at (541) 482-4311.
  • Rakes, ball washers and benches have been removed to limit contact.
  • Players will also notice cup liners in the hole; please do not remove the flag stick.
  • Groups of three or less are permitted to play, foursomes will not be allowed.
  • Pull carts and rental sets will not be available.
  • Walking is encouraged. If you would like a cart, the carts are single rider only. (Exceptions may be made if players are from the same household, with regular interactions. We are not taking reservations for golf carts.)
  • Some mats have been removed on the driving range to ensure physical distancing. You may have to wait.

All walking paths, trails, and bike routes in parks and community are open for public use. Restroom facilities will remain open along well-used trails, but many others will close. Portable bathrooms, hand wash stations and trash facilities are already available and will continue where any restrooms are closed. 

Office Closures:
As of March 18, all City and Parks offices, except for the Ashland Police Station, are closed to the public. Staff are still available via phone or email to assist the public and will be making in-person appointments, if necessary. View our department directory here

Zagster Bike Share:
Our partners at Zagster who provide the bike share program around Ashland has paused there service meaning turning off access to the app for riders and pausing any recurring billing at this time. Click here for more information.

Events and Meetings Canceled:
  • All Parks and Recreation programs in the Winter/Spring 2020 Community Play Guide have been canceled. 
  • City Council and Parks and Recreation Commission meetings will be held electronically until further notice.
  • All non-essential meetings are canceled (including Commission, Committee, and Subcommittees) beginning March 12.
  • The RVCOG (Rogue Valley Council of Governments) Food & Friends senior lunch program is still being offered at the Center; however, meals are to go only. To inquire about meals, contact Food & Friends at (541) 734-9505.
  • The Rogue Valley Bike Swap originally scheduled for Saturday, April 4 is postponed. For rescheduling details, visit RVTD.org/bikeswap.  
  • AARP Tax-Aide Program has canceled their program nationwide starting on Friday, March 13.
