The People Passing Through

On October 28, 2015, Mayor John Stromberg and Council Steffinger welcomed community members to a listening session titled "The People Passing Through".

The City Council has received numerous reports, complaints and requests over the past months about people hanging out downtown and by exit 14.  The purpose of the session was to collect information about this issue and give the Council and community a shared collection of reports, interpretations and suggestions.

The session focused on three questions:

  1. What behavior have you found problematic, threatening, intimidating, dangerous, etc.?
  2. What can you tell about the people causing the problems?
  3. What suggestions do you have for how we can cope with the situation?
More than 100 people attended and about 40 people spoke.

The three hour meeting was televised and can be viewed here: Listening Session #2 "The People Passing Through"
