Middle & High School Student

 Earn school community service hours removing invasive species and helping keep our parks pesticide free.  Sign up to be notified of Saturday morning clean-ups, that are only two hours long. Gloves, tools, snacks provided.

Lithia Park Hosts, June — August
High School Students

Staff an information table at the front of Lithia Park.  Lithia Park Hosts will offer free maps and answer park-related questions. Flexible two-hour shifts, seven days a week.  Short training and volunteer t-shirt provided. 
 
Youth Conservation Corps, June & July
8th grade through High School

Earn 25 hours of community service in four days working in our parks and on our trails with Ashland Parks’ Youth Conservation Corps. Three sessions available starting June 10.

Rogue Valley Bird Day is the local observance of World Migratory Bird Day, which celebrates one of the most important and spectacular events in the life of a migratory bird—its journey between wintering and breeding grounds.
Join us on Saturday, May 11, from 8 a.m. to noon, at North Mountain Park to celebrate! Enjoy Wildlife Images exhibits where you can meet some magnificent birds of prey. Join the experts for guided bird walks and compete in a bird-calling contest for all ages.

Ashland Parks & Recreation Commission invites you to beat the heat at Daniel Meyer Memorial Pool this summer!  The pool will open for lap swim on Monday, May 20 and for Senior and Rec Swim on Saturday, May 25.  Check out all our swim programs, swim lessons and view the calendar for the 2019 season at ashland.or.us/Swim.  Daniel Meyer Memorial Pool, an outdoor facility located in Hunter Park at 1705 Homes Avenue, will be open through early September 2019. The pool offers rec swim, lap swim, water fitness, swim lessons, swim camps and much more. After May 20, the pool can be reached directly at 541.488.0313.

Children ages 3 to 12 years old are invited to Daniel Meyer Pool on Thursday, June 20 at 2 p.m. for a FREE 30-minute introductory swim lesson focusing on water safety, comfort in the water, air recovery and basic movement in water.  Must pre-register online at ashland.or.us/register by June 12, 5 p.m.

We are excited to host our first season of movies in the park, at the Butler Bandshell every 2nd and 4th Fri-day, May-September. Bring a blanket, stadium seats, and the whole family to enjoy an evening of family-friendly movies under the stars! The white roof of the Bandshell has proven an exceptional screen for our projections, and wireless “Silent Disco” headphones will be available to rent for crystal-clear audio. Con-cessions will be available as well.

Join Silent Movement for their 4th summer of family-friendly events, as they return to the front of Lithia Park. Rent a pair of headphones and wander through downtown’s Art Walk, or dance with over 200 other attendees to multiple channels of Live DJ’s playing funky beats, while the little ones can make their own music on the interactive “Wiggle Wagon” which broadcasts on our Kid’s Channel.

43rd Annual Fourth of July Run

APRC will present the 43rd Annual 4th of July Run on Thursday, July 4, 2019 which is a fundraiser for the Ashland and Phoenix High School cross country teams. This annual run is steeped in tradition dating back to 1976!  
Two runs are offered, a 2-mile fun run for all ages and a 10K that attracts local competitors as well as running talent from other regions in the U.S.  Both races start at 7:45 a.m., are chip-timed and the routes are scenic and on closed roadways.

How to Make Gluten-Free, Sprouted, Sourdough Bread

Learn how to turn inexpensive whole grains into healthy and delicious gluten-free bread, using the power of sprouting and wild fermentation. Course participants will learn to make flatbread, tortillas and multigrain bread, as well as how to maintain a sourdough starter. Bring two small containers to take home your own sourdough starter. Get Golf Ready is a fun and affordable program designed to introduce golf to juniors who have never played or have minimal golf experience. Get Golf Ready offers a series of (5) lessons in a group setting that focus on basic instruction on chipping, putting and full swing techniques, as well as information on how to navigate the clubhouse and golf course, etiquette and rules of golf. Star Party: Discover the Moon

Students will learn the history of Geocaching and what the game is all about. Participants should bring their smart phone to use apps and the built-in GPS to find the caches hidden around the park.
