FEMA has released the following press release on behalf of Jackson County regarding the free vaccines offered at the Expo.
The Jackson County Vaccination Equity Center at the Expo will transition operations beginning June 16. The last day for the drive-thru operation providing the Pfizer vaccine will be June 15. The walk-thru clinic providing the Moderna and J&J vaccines will continue until June 28 and will remain under Jackson County Public Health. The mobile operations under the Oregon Health Authority and Jackson County Public Health will continue.
Residents of southern Oregon are encouraged to take advantage of the final weekend of the drive-thru facility. The Expo drive-thru can facilitate over 1000 vaccines per day. No appointment or registration required, shots are free and everyone is welcome. Vaccine Equity Center drive-thru is open from 12:00 – 7 p.m. until close of business on June 15.
Anyone due for their second dose of Pfizer after June 15, is asked to visit:
www.JacksonCounty.org/hhs/COVID-19 or call 211. People can also contact Safeway/Albertsons, Walgreens or Walmart to schedule your second dose of Pfizer.
The County Vaccination Equity Center opened the drive-thru April 21 for an eight-week mission to support the Jackson County walk-thru center and accelerate COVID-19 vaccinations to Oregon’s historically underserved communities. As of June 8, the entire operation provided over 24,000. The Center has provided a safe and accessible location for people living in Jackson County and surrounding areas to receive a COVID -19 vaccine.
In addition to the walk-thru and drive-thru options, the Oregon Health Authority and Jackson County Public Health has managed vaccination outreach clinics throughout the County taking the Pfizer vaccine to over 2300 people.
The vaccination center was a joint effort from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Department of Defense, Oregon Health Authority (OHA) and Office of Emergency Management (OEM), Jackson County Health and Human Services, and Jackson County Emergency Management. Additional partners included the U.S. Coast Guard, Peace Corps and AmeriCorps (FEMA Corps). Over two hundred personnel have come from across the country to support the Jackson County vaccination effort.
In alignment with President Biden’s
plan to respond to COVID-19, FEMA continues to work with local, state and tribal partners to expedite vaccinations across FEMA Region 10 in an efficient, effective and equitable manner. When considering options, the best vaccine is the one that is available to you.
