Controlled burns at three separate locations are scheduled for Thursday, December 12th.
  1. The first burn is located off the U.S. Forest Service Road 2060 (Lithia Loop Road) and USFS 2060-200 Road. Smoke may impact Horn Gap and No Candies Trails. Several alternative trails can be accessed on the East Side of the Watershed off Tolman Creek Road or the Ashland Loop Road.
  2. A second burn is planned well above Hitt Road. Smoke could be visible from Wrights Creek Dr, Westwood St, Bird Song and Strawberry Lane. No road or trail impact is expected. If you live in the neighborhood close to the burn, please follow precautions found on Smokewise Ashland
  3. Lastly, a burn is planned Southeast of Ashland above Interstate 5. Smoke could be visible from I-5 and is not expected to have any road or trail impact.

  • If you live close to a burn location, keep windows closed and if you smell smoke, follow health recommendations on Smokewise Ashland.
More Information Conditions for burning are good with a weather system that will move smoke away from town.  Controlled burns are a critical part of creating a safer, more resilient landscape and community in the face of increasing fire risk due to climate change and overgrown forests.
