Volunteers Needed for Warming Center & Winter Shelter
Posted: Tuesday, November 26, 2019

Update: Volunteers are needed for both the Emergency Overnight Warming Center and the Ashland Winter Shelter. If you are able to volunteer for either please contact Southern Oregon Jobs with Justice at (541) 841-8341 for the Emergency Overnight Warming Center or Options for Helping Residents of Ashland at (541) 708-6434 for the Ashland Winter Shelter.

Original Post: The City of Ashland in partnership with Southern Oregon Jobs with Justice (SOJWJ) and Options for Helping Residents of Ashland (OHRA) are coordinating to ensure that vulnerable citizens are not left out in the cold. Southern Oregon Jobs with Justice will be hosting the Emergency Overnight Warming Center, a temporary drop in shelter open during extreme weather events. Options for Helping Residents of Ashland is the lead agency for the Ashland Winter Shelter Program, a seven night a week shelter held throughout the cold winter months. Both Southern Oregon Jobs with Justice and Options for Helping Residents of Ashland are only able to offer these services because of the generous support of community volunteers and ACCESS, the Community Action Agency for Jackson County.

To find out more information about the Emergency Overnight Warming Center, or to volunteer contact SOJWJ at (541) 841-8341 or visit SOJWJ.org. If you would like more information or would like to volunteer at the Ashland Winter Shelter please contact OHRA, at (541) 708-6434 or visit helpingashland.org.
