Kelly Madding selected as Ashland’s next City Administrator.

After an intensive interview and selection process, Kelly Madding has been nominated by the Mayor to become the next City Administrator. The full City Council is scheduled to vote on confirming her appointment at its next regular business meeting. Madding has informally agreed to key terms to be incorporated in a draft contract the Council will review as part of its confirmation decision.

Madding is a highly-regarded public administrator, having held leadership positions in several Rogue Valley municipal governments over the last twenty years. Most recently, she has been the Deputy City Manager for the City of Medford.

Madding brings experience as an active participant in numerous regional problem-solving efforts. Selection committee members concluded she also seems to understand well the unique character and needs of Ashland and its residents. Her thoughtful, collaborative leadership style was one of the key attributes sought in the ideal Candidate Profile City prepared as it launched its extensive, four-month selection process.

Adam Hanks has been serving as Interim City Administrator since April when John Karns formally retired. The City has been running efficiently during Hanks’s tenure, and the City is well-positioned for a smooth transition of leadership. Current projects are moving forward, and the City is busy with summer activity. City staff and elected leaders are excited to welcome Kelly to work July 30th.
