The Ashland Police Department promotes an environment in which survivors of sexual assault are treated with dignity, sensitivity and courtesy, providing them with as much control over their report and any subsequent criminal investigation as the law allows. Additionally, the Ashland Police Department is keenly aware that sex crimes are considerably underreported across the United States and want to remind the community of our You Have Options Program. YHOP is a victim-centered / offender-focused response to sexual violence.
Goals of the YOU HAVE OPTIONS program:
1. Increase sexual assault reporting by eliminating as many barriers to reporting as possible.
2. Increase identification and prosecution of sexual offenders.
3. Decrease sexual assault victimization.
