Public Safety Support Fee Enacted
The City Council enacted a Public Safety Support Fee at their June 30th Meeting and set the fee at 50 cents per month for each electric meter on July 18th. The Public Safety Support Fee will be dedicated exclusively for the use to hire one new Police Officer.
Under the current Police staffing level, the Police Department can only respond to one contentious situation at a time and must rely on outside support to ensure a safe community. With previous Council action, to increase the property tax, the City will be able to increase the staffing on the two most critical shifts.
The Public Safety Support Fee will be on all electric bills starting July 27th.
