Meet the Public Artist

Gordon Huether, the artist selected to create public art in the Theater Corridor, will present an overview of his work on Friday, February 24 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gresham Room at the Ashland Public Library.  Please enter the Library through the back door.
The purpose of this meeting is for the community to meet the artist and to learn about his work and approach to creating public art.  Mr. Huether is looking forward to hearing from the community about the project and how the space should feel.
The pedestrian walkway from East Main Street to the city parking garage and the Thomas Theater, dubbed the Theater Corridor, was identified by the ad hoc Downtown Beautification Committee as a space that needed improvements and requested the Public Art Commission oversee the project.
Mr. Huether was selected by the Public Art Commission to create public art for this location.  He will create two concepts which will be presented to the community in September.  A Selection Panel will select its preferred concept and forward its recommendation to the Public Art Commission and to the City Council.  The City Council will review both concepts and make a final selection.  The piece will be installed in 2018.
