Fire Danger Reduced to LOW (green)

Beginning Wednesday, October 5, fire danger has been reduced to LOW (green). Cool temperatures and rain have caused fire officials to reduce the fire danger, but fire season is still in effect along with some fire restrictions throughout the city of Ashland. Find the most current restrictions at www.ashland.or.us/fireseason or by contacting Ashland Fire & Rescue at 482-2770.

There are no time restrictions on outdoor equipment. Mowing of dry grass is permitted, and weed abatement is required to be maintained through the end of fire season. This is also a great time to continuing creating defensible space around your home. Check www.ashlandfirewise.org for information on how to prepare your home for the next fire season.

The following restrictions remain in effect:

  • Outdoor Debris Burning is Prohibited - The barbecues and fire rings in Lithia Park and raised outdoor wood burning appliances that meet the city requirements are permitted to be used at this time. These are prohibited during high and extreme fire danger.
  • Fireworks and sky lanterns are prohibited at all times, throughout the year within the City.
  • Weed Abatement is required to be maintained.
  • Industrial Forest Operations - Under the IFPL 1, commercial operators on or within 1/8 of a mile of Oregon Department of Forestry protected forest lands are required to have fire equipment on site and provide a watchman service. There are some lands within the city limits that are also protected by the Oregon Department of Forestry. For more information about restrictions on ODF lands, see their website at www.swofire.com.
