Fireworks will go on sale this week in Oregon, however, they are not permitted to be used, sold, stored or advertised in the City of Ashland.  The prohibition on the use and storage of retail fireworks applies throughout the year.  Ashland citizens who cooperate are helping to prevent fires, injuries and risk to our citizens and natural resources.

Ashland Fire & Rescue encourages you to enjoy the fireworks display sponsored by the Ashland Chamber of Commerce at 10pm on July 4th over the SOU athletic fields.  For information on how you can help support this entertainment, see the Chamberís website at www.ashlandchamber.com.

If you would like to help promote the fireworks prohibition in Ashland, posters are available during normal business hours at Fire Station 1 or on our website.

Ashland Police Department will be strictly enforcing all fireworks violations. Remember that you can be held financially responsible for fire damage and the costs of fire suppression caused by negligent use of fireworks.  To keep Ashland safe from fireworks caused fires, enjoy the professional fireworks display.  For more information contact Ashland Fire & Rescue at 482-2770 or visit our website at  www.ashland.or.us/fourthofjuly.  Please enjoy the Independence Day holiday safely.
