Assault On A Police Officer, APD News Release Case #16-1199

ASSAULT ON A POLICE OFFICER
 
The Ashland Police Department is seeking your help to identify an adult male who recently assaulted an Ashland Police Officer.  On 05/06/16 at about 9:00 pm, the below male was contacted in Lithia Park because the officer believed he was smoking marijuana in public. The male refused to identify himself and attempted to leave the area. When the officer tried to stop the male a fight ensued.  During the fight the officer was punched in the face and dropped his flashlight.  The suspect picked up the flashlight and charged at the officer.  Even though the male was tased, he was able to break free from the Taser prongs and escape.
