Plastic Bag Ban Survey - One Year Review

In November of 2014, the City Council approved an ordinance that prohibited the use of single use plastic bags in retail businesses in Ashland.  To encourage the use of reusable bags rather than single use paper bags, the ordinance also required retailers to charge customers a ten cent fee for each paper bag used at the checkout by the customer.

At the request of the City Council, the ordinance included a one year review.  To assist the Council in their upcoming review on January 19, 2016, survey questionnaires were mailed to all retail businesses in Ashland, as well as to all local grocers.

A similar questionnaire is now available on the City website to get feedback from consumers/customers as well.

Please take a few moments and complete the questionnaire and add any general comments you have on the plastic bag ban ordinance.  Your input will be shared with Council for their review at the January 19, 2016 Council meeting.
