Diana Lynn Zeman was arrested early Wednesday morning for assaulting an Ashland man with a knife. The Ashland man, a local transient, left the warming shelter located at 73 Winburn Way at approximately 3:45 a.m. and made his way toward the Ashland Plaza. Shortly thereafter, the male was confronted by Zeman in the area of 40 North Main Street where he was menaced multiple times with a knife. The male fended off Zeman for short period of time, however sustained multiple lacerations during the confrontation. The male fled to the Ashland Police Contact Station in an attempt to find police assistance.
The male victim was treated for non-life threatening lacerations at Ashland Community Hospital and later released. Although this is a very serious incident, APD would like to remind the public that incidents of this nature in Ashland are rare. Zeman was booked into the Jackson County Jail on multiple felony crimes including Attempt Murder, Assault 1, Robbery 1 and Menacing. The motive for the attack remains under investigation. During the investigation detectives determined one or two uninvolved people were in the area at the time of the assault and may have witnessed the incident.
