Winter Shelter Volunteer Training & Orientation

Attention, Ashland Community Volunteers!
AN OVERNIGHT & EMERGENCY SHELTER VOLUNTEER TRAINING & ORIENTATION IS SCHEDULED for Wednesday November 11th from 7:00-9:00 p.m. in CALVIN HALL at the PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, located at 1615 CLARK AVE. (Corner of Walker Ave. & Siskiyou Blvd.)
Community volunteers are once again preparing to offer 2015-16 Winter Overnight & Emergency Shelter for Ashland’s most vulnerable citizens.  During the cold, winter months from NOVEMBER 16, 2015-APRIL 14, 2016, community volunteers will offer 4 nights of no frills shelter each week, in four different locations.
In addition to the regular weekly Monday through Thursday shelter nights, whenever the temperature is projected to drop below 20 degrees, the Ashland City Administrator can authorize an Emergency Shelter.  We must have volunteers to be able to offer these services!  All volunteer hosts work in teams of at least two.
Please join us to review the simple protocols required to act as host at one of our shelters.  Last year, with the help of 73 community volunteers we provided 88 nights of shelter, and averaged more than 20 guests/night.  With your help, we hope to do the same again this year.
