Reports of Agressive Deer

Aggressive Deer

The City has received reports of aggressive deer activity in the vicinity of B Street and 4th Street and near Gresham and Fairview Streets.  This is the time of the year when deer are fawning and can become aggressive if they sense their fawns are threatened.

Walkers should avoid these areas for the next few days particularly if walking with a dog.

Remember
  • Donít ever approach a deer or their fawns
  • Assume all does have fawns somewhere nearby and will defend them
  • Keep a greater distance during fawn season
  • Most, but not all encounters with aggressive deer involve dogs.  Deer will sense your dogís presence likely before you see the deer, particularly if they are in a semi-enclosed area.
