At approximately 2:45 this morning, the Mountain Ave. Electric Substation went off-line.
A raccoon had climbed atop the transformer and shortened the main electrical buss. City electric crews were activated and the electric load served by the Mountain Avenue Electric Substation was transferred in stages to the Ashland and Oak Knoll substations. All customer power was restored by 5:40 a.m.
Repair crews are on site evaluating the damage. At this time there is no estimate for repair or costs.
Once repairs are complete at the Mountain Avenue location, electric distribution temporarily placed on the Ashland and Oak Knoll substations will be transferred back to North Mountain. Outages of approximately thirty seconds can be expected when the load is transferred.
