The Oak Knoll Golf Course, a division of the Ashland Parks & Recreation Commission (APRC) and new member of the American FootGolf League (AFGL), will officially launch FootGolf on Monday, May 11, with 10 holes of FootGolf! The game is perfect for juniors, families, soccer teams or anyone looking to enjoy the beautiful Oak Knoll Golf Course at an affordable price. All the player needs to bring is a soccer ball (regulation #5 soccer ball) and soft-soled shoes (no soccer cleats allowed). Fees: $4/youth (U18), $8/adult, $3/soccer ball rental.
The National Golf Course Owners Association, the leading authority on golf course ownership and management, has recognized the AFGL has the governing body for the sport of FootGolf in the United States. The AFGL promotes FootGolf under the rules and guidelines of the Federation for International FootGolf.
FootGolf was introduced in the U.S. in 2011, and is already being played at hundreds of golf courses across the country. This sport combines elements of soccer and golf. The player’s goal is simple: to kick a soccer ball into a 21-inch cup in the fewest strokes possible. For more information on FootGolf visit www.footgolf.net
“One of the exciting things for APRC is the interest that has been shown in the sport by millennials, women and children. It’s an opportunity for young families to enjoy the course,” stated Oak Knoll Golf Course Manager, Tom Cronin.
Call the Oak Knoll Clubhouse at 541.482.4311 for more information about this new sport. As with golf, it is important to call ahead and book your FootGolf tee time!
