Ashland Parks and Recreation is excited to launch a new Park and Trail Finder Web Application (App). The app is available on the Ashland Parks and Recreation home page at www.AshlandParksandRec.org
, or directly at gis.ashland.or.us/AshlandParksandRec
The new web app highlights all of the parks and open spaces managed by Ashland Parks and Recreation. Users can find basic information, including addresses and park hours, in addition to a complete list of park amenities. A photo gallery is offered for most locations. The app also features trails, offering trail names and distances for each highlighted segment.
Parks can be searched by location, name or activity. For example, a user can search for a park in Ashland that includes restrooms, swimming facilities and picnic tables. The app then displays the parks meeting those criteria. Users can also search for parks in or nearby their current location.
The new web app was developed by Rickey Fite, Engineering Technician for the City of Ashland GIS Department. Fite used tools provided by ESRI (Environmental Systems Research Institute), a company that supplies GIS software, web GIS and geodatabase management applications.
The web app map was created by Lea Richards, GIS Specialist for the City of Ashland.
The app can be pushed to the home screen of your Android or IOS device (smartphone, tablet, iPad or iPhone) for quick and easy access on the go. See the information section of the web app, or online help, for complete instructions.
Ashland Parks and Recreation would like to extend a generous thank you to the City of Ashland GIS Department for their hard work and coordination of the new Park and Trail Finder Web Application for the benefit of citizens and visitors of Ashland.
